It's loosely about feudal Japan...very loosely. Characters that are given a name are based on real people in the author's life. People she has come accross in various situations, and friends, even relatives.
Originally Keisarinna was strictly about people who played same text based online roleplaying game as the author, but since the game more or less dissappeared, so did the bellywire to the game.
Spitfire is the empress of Keisarinna dynasty and other characters are more or less her vassals.
And about these vassals, it would seem that the more you try to boss them, the more they rebel.
Then there's ninjas, guard/service/spy rats and garden dragon, who are just imaginary characters. (Others are real, seriously!)
